Your files stay on your device

Every converter, the optimizer, the colour changer, the code tools and the batch converter run as JavaScript in your browser. Files you open are read into your tab’s memory, processed there, and handed back to you as downloads. They are never sent to SVGShift or anyone else.

What is stored in your browser

To save you re-entering settings, SVGShift remembers tool preferences (for example vectorizer colour count, optimizer precision, favicon background colour) in your browser’s localStorage under the key svgshift:prefs:v1. File contents are not stored. When you send a traced SVG to the optimizer, it is passed through sessionStorage and deleted as soon as the optimizer opens it.

The optional AI assistant

The SVG viewer has an assistant that can explain an SVG or draft a simple icon. It only runs when you press its button. The SVG text (up to 12,000 characters) or your short description is sent to our server function, which forwards it to a language model through Vercel AI Gateway and streams the answer back. SVGShift does not store these requests. A temporary per-IP counter limits how often the assistant can be used.

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics service, to count page views and see which tools people use. It does not see your files.
